SR 200 west (24.3m)

In Hernado SR 200 joins US 41 South for 0.4 miles

Turn right onto CR 468 (0.8 m)

Turn Left onto North Croft Ave (3.1m) (going this way by passes Inverness)

Turn right onto SR 44 W (E Gulf to Lake Hwy) (6.7m)

Just after going through downtown Lecanto

Turn Left onto CR 490 (W Homossassa Trail) (6.2m)

Turn Left onto SR 55/US 19/US 98/Suncoast Hwy  (6.3m) (Go through Homossas Springs)

At Major intersection (US 98 splits off here), turn right onto CR 480 / Miss Maggie Dr

Follow Miss Maggie Drive to campground (2 miles)

There is a $5  fee at this ramp for car or truck and if ya have a trailer $2 more, we know as of 08/25/12, oh by the way you pay @ concession.


Once on the water there are several springs that can be seen and wonderful sites can be found along some of the creeks


One of which will require some walking - to go to the Crack, but told a wonderful place to eat lunch

Caution:

 

When parking at the boat ramp. Park well away from the water as the Buzzards have taken to eating/tearing up the rubber liner on the car doors.

Be wary of motor boats on this river, stay to the sides of the river as much as possible, and be prepared to handle the wakes from boats, as they tend to travel fast here.
It is encouraged that you have a map of the river.  Maps can be acquired at local merchants like A Crystal River Kayak Co. and others, or you can print out a satellite view of the river using Goggle Earth or Maps, that will help you understand where the creeks are and how they meander.
