Alexander Creek

 

Alexander Creek has several opportunities for paddling.  You can go to the Springs and use the shuttle service provided by the concessionaire, or do your own shuttle down to 552 Landing.  Another nice trip is to go from 552 Landing downstream to the St Johns River and continue on to Powell's Boat ramp.

Take SR 40 east from Ocala about 35 miles to Astor Park.
From the junction of SR 40 and CR 445A in Astor Park, drive (right) southwest on CR 445A for 0.5 mile,
then turn south (left) on CR 445 for 5.9 miles.
Turn north (right) onto the road at the entrance to Alexander Springs Recreation Area. Fee area.

552 Landing (This road number has changed to FR 18)

Take SR 40 East from Ocala about 35 miles to Astor Park. 
From the junction of SR 40 and CR 445A in Astor Park, drive (right) southwest on CR 445A for 0.05 miles,
then turn south (left) onto CR 445 for 4.7 miles
then turn east (left) onto FR 18 (old FR 552). 
Stay on FR 18 to end (4.6 miles)

Powell's Boat ramp (on St Johns River)

Take SR 40 east to Astor (39 miles). 
Turn south (right) onto Alco Road (across from Post Office) for 4.2 miles. 
Turn south (right) onto Holiday Drive
which then turns into Powell DR, follow to end - pay at Bait Shop for ramp use.
