Paddle Often, Paddle Safely

Gum Slough July 14, 2012

The TC's for today were Fred Groschopp and Chris Spontak

Incredibly beautiful are the words that describe the view on the Gum Slough today.  The water level was high.  All the trees had been cleared from our path.  Three paddlers used their gps units and one member used pink ribbon tape to mark our way.  The paddle up to the spring was a bit hard as we fought the current.  We all expected the spring at the end to look different than it did.  Some of the guys took a dip and a swim.  We rested and had some snacks.  The return trip was much easier as the current pushed us along.  We got cold drinks at Turner's Fish Camp where we sat near the Teakie Bar.  We returned to the launch site and loaded our boats.  I wish all our members could have been there with us today.  The trip took about six and a half hours.  Come out and enjoy the great outdoors soon...  Sandie
