Paddle Often, Paddle Safely

Juniper Run

March 31, 2012

The tc for today's trip was Fred Groschopp.  The morning was overcast as I made my way to the Ocala National Forest and on to Juniper Creek.  The sun was trying hard to shine but had clouds in it's path.  There was a 50% chance of rain for today.  Everyone was ready to do the shuttle on time.  The boats and gear had already been unloaded at Juniper recreation area.

The river was windy and we meandered around downed trees and over some that was just below the water surface.  The water level was rather low today from lack of rain in our area.  Some paddlers enjoyed the wildlife and wildflowers.  Some enjoyed wading in the water.  The afternoon hours gave way to bright sun and warmth.  This was a fun trip using our paddling skills to avoid trees and low branches.  But our skills failed us at time in-spite of our efforts.  lol .  The wilderness was beautiful and untouched by home construction and city life.  I hope it will remain this was forever.  Our take out point was Juniper Wayside.  A big thanks to Mark and Wayne for a flawless shuttle.  This was just another fun trip.  Come out and paddle in the great outdoors real soon.

Some of us got a bite to eat at Lena's before departing for our homes.  I hope to see you soon on the river...Sandie
